How is my dosage determined?

We typically start with in house serum lab testing to determine the dosage of hormones that you need. We use an algorithm online that uses your height, weight, age, hysterectomy status, symptoms and labs to suggest a dose that is right for you. Sometimes we choose to also test hormones in urine. Comprehensive urine sex hormone evaluation gives us insight beyond just the standard measurements of individual hormones. The test examines the entire endocrine system and how hormones are being metabolized. For example, instead of only measuring total estrogen levels, we may choose to analyze different types of estrogen and estrogen metabolites. Our in-house lab testing helps our team of specialists learn what our patients need to provide premier treatment of hormone therapy in Hiawatha.

How often will I have follow-up appointments for hormone therapy?

After we balance your hormones, we will do follow-up appointments every 6-12 months. During these appointments we will discuss your lifestyle and the next steps in your wellness journey. If you elect to start with hormone pellets repeat procedures range from every 12 weeks to every 24 weeks time pending if you are female or male and what hormones and dosage you receive.

When should I consider hormone therapy?

After the age of 30, most individuals’ hormone production drops by 3 to 10% each year. The lack of necessary hormones can cause a variety of symptoms that affect you in many ways, ranging from physical health to mental well-being. You’ll complete a questionnaire about your hormonal imbalance symptoms, and then we’ll review your medical history to better understand your concerns.

In-House Lab Testing

We invite you to our office for lab testing such as a comprehensive serum sex hormone evaluation to understand your hormonal levels.

Treatment
