Additionally, Gray’s capstone doctoral project identified and highlighted new emerging evidence indicating that estrogen metabolism impacts women’s risk for breast cancer. It is now possible for women to lower their risk of breast cancer by being tested for a ratio of estrogen metabolites (2:16 alpha hydroxyestrone ratio) and, if appropriate, to favorably impact it using a nutritional intervention, Diindolylmethane (DIM).

Dr. Stephanie Gray worked to increase health care provider’s awareness and utilization of this 2:16 ratio and DIM in an effort to promote breast health and reduce breast cancer risk. Her project served as an initial step for the future development of evidence-based practice guidelines as a primary preventative approach to breast health. Gray disseminated her project by speaking at state and national conferences including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners 27th Annual conference in the summer 2012 where she presented her project. Her project manuscript was submitted for publication in early 2014.

She also became certified to provide IV nutrients (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants) in fall 2016 through International IV Nutritional Therapy for Professionals. She became  a certified Wahl’s Protocol® Health Professional in 2018.
